What is Building for the Future?

Building for the Future is a forum for diverse community partners such as affordable housing advocates, economic development leaders and housing builders to learn about and share information on solutions to the housing crisis in Spokane County. Partner groups work together to educate and engage community leaders and residents on solutions such as housing affordability, smart growth, sustainability and construction workforce development.

What does Building for the Future do?

Building for the Future hosts a website with a library of articles and information on housing challenges and solutions. At least once a year, Building for the Future partners come together to host a housing solutions event that is open to the public.

How did Building for the Future get started?

The idea for Building for the Future grew out of a number of community conversations about housing issues in Spokane between diverse partners, such as affordable housing nonprofits, economic development advocates and housing builders. The Spokane Home Builders Association volunteered to get the project rolling. It is now a community partnership seeking diverse stakeholder engagement.

Is this a political action group?

No. The Building for the Future project does not raise money for politics or advocate for partisan candidates.

Are there fees involved with being a partner?

No. There are no fees required to participate at this time, but partners may be invited to financially support group efforts in the future.
